Bausch and Lomb: The Name that Equates to Top-Quality Contact Lens
Bausch and Lomb is the all-too-popular contact lens brand that has achieved
worldwide success and unmatched popularity. All over the world, the name of
Bausch and Lomb is practically considered a synonym of top-quality lenses. Lenses
offered by the company have the unparalleled reputation of being made only by
the best experts in the industry. The company now offers its contact lenses
and products for lens care in the widest market today, and this has been the
case for several years. It is clear that the company has come quite a long way
from when it was first founded by John Jacob Bausch and Henry Lomb all the way
back in 1853. The Bausch and Lomb name is now considered as the most respected name when
it comes to contact lenses. The company spreads its expertise in the manufacture
of contact lenses among various brands that they use to distribute their contact
lenses to various markets. The brands that the company now handles include PureVision,
SofLens, Optima, and SilSoft.
PureVision is their leading brand of soft contact lenses, and is considered
as their best and most popular brand. PureVision lenses are known for their
impressive eyesight enhancement as well as effective vision correction for different
needs. The brand is also the first to release special silicone hydrogel lenses
using the company’s own AerGel technology. AerGel refers to a special
and exclusive contact lens material that provides maximum comfort to the wearer.
PureVision now distributes different kinds of lenses such as Toric lenses for
people suffering from astigmatism and the Multi-Focal lenses for people who
want to avoid reading glasses for their presbyopia.
The other brand, SofLens, is considered as the brand that focuses on the hydrogel
contact lenses which are great in resisting dirt and dust deposits to keep your
lenses clean and your vision clear. And without dirt and dust to plague your
lenses and thus, your eyes, you will surely stay comfortable all day long with
your lenses. SofLens also offers Toric and Multi-Focal lenses. But aside from
that, SofLens offers their line of daily disposable lenses that ensures you
get fresh and sharp vision with a new pair of lenses every day. The brand also
offers two other types of lenses, the SofLens 38 and the SofLens 59. Next, the
Optima brand offers conventional soft lenses and has been the prime brand for
such lenses for more than 12 years. The brand’s main offer is Optima 38/SP,
but it also offers Optima Toric. SilSoft, however, are special lenses designed
to be used by both adults and children. The SuperPlus lenses by SilSoft are
safe to be used by children who need vision correction even at an early age.
Bausch & Lomb has produced contact lenses since 1971, beginning with the Soflens line of contacts. This was a softer lens than previously produced by competitors and a staple contact lens for wearers for many years. Purevision lenses are also produced by Bausch and Lomb, and have become more popular in recent years
Bausch & Lomb started operations in 1853 in Rochester, New York as a precision optics manufacturer, and making vulcanized rubber eyeglasses frames. The company continued in optics business manufacturing microscopes, binoculars, camera shutters, and sunglasses for the American military. Bausch and Lomb sold the high-end sunglasses division, Ray-Ban, in 1999. In 2002, a US Federal Judge ruled that Baush & Lomb Purevision product infringed on Novartis patents. In 2004, Bausch & Lomb announced it would pay royalties to the Novartis subsidiary Ciba Vision on sales
of Purevision products sold in the USA until 2014 and outside the USA until 2016.
