The Biomedics XC now from CooperVision is a new 2-week daily-wear lens designed to
provide a comfortable fit that lasts the whole day. Manufactured using innovative,
patented technology, the lens material contains phosphorylcholine (PC) molecules
that surround themselves with water to keep the lenses moist and comfortable for
extended periods of time. The Biomedics XC contact lens is a soft hydrophilic contact lens that is designed as a hemispherical shell and is placed on the cornea to refract and focus light rays to the eye. This design will allow for a crisper image for the patient wearing the disposable lens.
The lenses are designed to be a daily wear one to two week lens, which requires the user to remove the lenses at the end of the day and replace them after they have worn the same lens for one to two weeks. The doctor typically prescribes a replacement schedule depending on the needs and particulars of each patient.
