Some people who wear contact lenses have gotten into a routine and are a little bit reluctant to change the type of lenses that they wear. Sometimes people don’t try other types of lenses, and they may never know the difference. For people who are wearers of daily contact lenses, a switch to weekly contact lenses might be surprisingly convenient and comfortable.

Something that may have turned people off in the past was the cost of extended wear contact lenses. These lenses that don’t have to be taken out at the end of the day have actually gone down substantially in price and will not be much more expensive than daily contact lenses.

Newer materials are much better at letting oxygen get to the eye so weekly contact lenses have become very comfortable. People who switch from daily lenses to weekly contact lenses will soon notice how much more convenient it is to not have to take out their lenses at the end of the day. It also saves time in the morning, and for people who don’t like putting their lenses in, having to do it once a week will be much better than once a day.

Weekly contact lenses might not be for everybody. For those that work in areas where there is a lot of dust or contaminants that could get into the eyes this might be a problem. It is also important to be careful when swimming or bathing to make sure that water does not get into the eye. There may also be people who have particularly sensitive eyes and they may have trouble with weekly lenses as well. In the end, it may actually be easier on the eyes to leave the contacts in for the entire week instead of irritating them by putting them in and taking them out on a daily basis.
