A new trend in the contact lens industry is to have opaque contacts.  If you’re not sure of what these are, you have probably seen people wearing them even if you didn’t realize it.  They are contacts that have colors impregnated into the material so that they will change the color of your eyes.

The first concern that many people have about opaque contacts is that they will alter the quality of the vision they have.  In the vast majority of cases, this is not true.  You’ll find that many of the products available are manufactured by the best companies and they wouldn’t be releasing them if they were not proper quality lenses.

You can find almost any color under the rainbow.  Sometimes, they are intended to simply alter the color of your eye.  For instance, someone with a light blue eyes may prefer to have a deeper blue or a person with brownish gray eyes may desire a deep brown.

There are also ones that are completely opaque and can turn a pair of brown eyes blue, to quote the song.  They actually do work and you would be surprised how difficult it is to tell that a person is wearing them.

There are a few things that you might want to avoid if you are considering opaque contacts.  The first is more of a fashion disaster.  They come in colors like purple and that’s going to look a little strange in some situations.  They can be fun, but if you show up to work in them, you can imagine people are going to find it odd.

Another thing that is very common with these types of contacts, especially with younger people is to share them.  While the temptation might be there to match your eyes with a particular outfit, sharing of contacts is never a good idea.  You should only ever wear contacts that have been prescribed for you.
